Qiana Baggett

Name: Qiana Baggett, 44

Description: A tenth of a second is a lot of time. In life, try to take things a tenth of a second at a time, as things can change in a flash. One moment, you could be like, “I can do it,” and the next, you could be like, “I’m at the lowest of my low.” When in pain, one moment, you could be sitting there fine, and the next second, you could be crying. So that’s what it is. It’s a tenth of a second at a time.

Instructions: Be in the moment, and know that things will pass. It may just be a tenth of a second. Do your best each moment, as things can go in many ways. It’s a split decision; it can actually be the difference between life and death. You can’t bring time back, so you don’t want to spend much time wallowing in pain and self-pity; you must get up.

Story: A time when it came into play was the worst time in my life. I don’t want to discuss that; I’ll think of another one. It came from when my boyfriend got murdered in front of me. I don’t want to talk about that. That’s all it takes for a person to still be here; that’s where this idea comes from. If I had said something in that tenth of a second, he probably wouldn’t have jumped back there, and someone might not have shot him. You never know.
